Parque de la Constitución: quiet, centrally located and with pigeons!
A park, right in the centre of Marbella, is a lung for the municipality. In operation since the end of the eighties, it is a park with a lot of well-kept vegetation. It has numerous paths passable by stroller, a play area for children up to the age of ten, an open-air amphitheatre and a restaurant-cafeteria. Such restaurant, El Parque de La Milla, is ideal for an aperitif while the kids can feed the pigeons bread crumbles or play around with scooters.
Located in the shade is possible to find the best swings area in Marbella . Offers coolness to children and adults that makes it a delight in summer. This park has some of the oldest and most beautiful trees in the city that gives shelter to wildlife. You can also find sitting benches, ideal for grandparents to relax while watching the kids.
Parque de la Constitucion only has two entrances and is gated, therefore is very safe. Next to the promenade in the centre and situated close to two very famous ice-cream parlours in Marbella: Gioelia and El Piave.
2. Parque de los Tres Jardines: spacious, with picnic area and easy parking.
On the outskirts of San Pedro de Alcántara, up the road to Ronda, we find a large park with easy parking. With 95,000 square metres and more than 10,000 species of plants, the Parque de Los Tres Jardines has three distinct areas: “Jardín Árabe” (Arab Garden), “Jardín Subtropical” (Subtropical Garden) and “Jardín Mediterráneo” (Mediterranean Garden).
Best thing for children, the play area has a zip-line, and best thing for parents, it has picnic tables. Not many possibilities for a coffee or a snack in the surrounding area, but there is a handy Burger King just a few minutes’ drive away. Great option just across the park, is the fun trampoline centre Costajump. Here, not only you can jump to exhaustion, but also have pizzas and soft drinks.
Like other parks in Marbella, ducks populate the premises, very used to the presence of children, which is a great incentive for them. Additional interesting point is the barbecue area. You only need to book in advance, although in summer live fire are forbidden for safety reasons in all public playgrounds in Marbella.
3. Parque de Nagüeles – Nagüeles Park: lots of trees, barbecues and family friendly.
A large park overflowing with Mediterranean pine trees above the Sierra Blanca urbanisation, in an area known as Nagüeles. Numerous picnic tables and barbecue stations. Kids playground is surrounded by a fence providing security and peace of mind. A great option for a day out in nature with family and friends without worrying about children exiting the park unattended .
Within the park is Fuerte de Nagüeles a very interesting private activity centre for children in summertime. The program covers from 3 to 14 years old. With basketball, tennis, swimming pool, horse and animal area, volley-ball, mini-golf and multi-adventure circuit in the trees. You will even find a dormitory for a total camping experience. Usually few places are available because of the high demand so we recommend you to get information from springtime.
4. Polideportivo Paco Cantos: full of sport activities, beautiful views and a bar with local flavour.
Although Paco Cantos is a multi-sports ground rather than a park in itself, it has an indoor area with swings very much in the style with a playground. Tennis courts, basketball courts, paddle courts, a large jogging track, a skating area… and a great climbing wall. All of them can be hire, but it must be done in advance. In addition, in Paco Cantos there is a bar with a very Spanish flavour. Enjoy simple but good quality food, buy snacks, soft drinks, water or sweets for the kids.
From the top of this pseudo-park you have stunning views of Marbella. It is right in the centre of town, but many foreign residents don’t know the location, because it seems a bit hidden by its vegetation. Also has a parking area (not too big) but you can park in the surrounding area. Perfect for active families who like to play sports together.
There are many more public playgrounds in Marbella and of course on the Costa del Sol. So you can see that spending quality time with the kids in this paradise in the south of Andalusia is easy and fun.
