A selection of Michelin restaurants in Marbella
· 3 min. read
Getting into the Michelin Guide is one of the best prizes a restaurant can win. Marbella, the city of luxury, already has several restaurants with this insignia. If you are on holiday in the area or have just moved to Marbella you won’t regret trying one of its Michelin-starred restaurants. Discover below a selection of Michelin restaurants in Marbella characterised by Mediterranean and avant-garde cuisine with a taste of Málaga.
Messina
Close to the beach of La Bajadilla, on Avenida Severo Ochoa, is located the restaurant Messina. This is the most different restaurant in this selection, as its speciality is vegetable broths. Mauricio Giovanini, its promoter, is a lover of these juices that are normally so forgotten. This Argentinian, together with his wife, Pia Ninci, have managed to bring out their full potential and turn the traditional broth into an absolute delicacy.
His menu, consisting of two menus (Degustación and Messina), is apparently simple, but each of his dishes exudes the care with which it is cooked. Messina is, without a doubt, a restaurant with a lot of personality.

El lago
On Avenida Marco Polo, on the Greenlife Golf course, we find El Lago, a Michelin-starred restaurant that owes its name to the lake that can be seen from its terrace.
The chef, Fernando Villasclaras Arce, proposes two menus offering a spectacular journey through Malaga’s gastronomy. Some of his exquisite dishes are wild sea bass, glazed rabbit, sweet potatoes with honey or goat cutlets. Not forgetting one of its most appetising desserts, the Coín cheesecake with mango and passion fruit.

Skina
In the heart of the historic centre of Marbella, we can enjoy the restaurant Skina. One of the most discreet places, which was created by the sommelier Marcos Granda. This is why this restaurant has almost a thousand different wines in its bodega.
Since 2004, the year it opened, it has been a place characterised by its avant-garde Andalusian cuisine. Skina has three menus, very distinctive for its excellent food and wine pairings. Some of the dishes that will blow your mind are the vanilla and curry langoustine cannelloni and the steamed sea bass with pil-pil and cauliflower, both served with Vincent Dauvissat. If, on the other hand, you prefer meat, the A5 Wagyu with beetroot and pears will certainly not impress you. To finish with a sweet touch, the Chocolate with almonds and coffee, topped with a Pedro Ximenez T° Albalá 1946.

Nintai
Marcos Granda already has three Michelin stars in Marbella. Two for Skina and one for Nintai. This last restaurant is a full commitment to oriental cuisine. Granda is a lover of Japanese culture and cuisine, and in March 2021 he decided to launch a restaurant with a unique style that Marbella had never seen before. Nintai means ‘perfect patience’, a characteristic that defines the Japanese way of cooking. This restaurant has an exclusive bar based on the concept of omakase (I leave it up to you), where the chef chooses the dish he is going to cook without the guest having the opportunity to choose.
Perfection, elegance, calm and an unequalled wine selection make this restaurant a benchmark for Japanese cuisine in Malaga.
